Showing Your Walk
During my ten years of teaching Bible, I have included a faith element. I have always thought that knowing the Bible is a wonderful and important thing, but students need to be able to connect their Bible knowledge with their heart. I believe that Bible knowledge and the student’s Christian walk are intricately linked.
In my middle school classroom, I have tied whatever I am teaching to the theme of “Why did God make you” and “What are you going to do about it.” For example, when teaching the Bible story of Abram leaving his land to go to the promised land, I connected this story with how God is going to call the students to accomplish something for Him. He will show the students that he has created them for a purpose, and He wants them to follow after His will.
My question for you is how do you show your walk with God to your students? How do you integrate your life’s story with God’s story in your classroom?
